Enjoy the swings, hammocks and mud/play kitchen between activities. Finish the day with toasting marshmallows (provided) around the campfire. What more could you want to end the day!

 

Forest Adventure Educational School Tours

We can accommodate up to 60 children at a time for a school tour (larger groups will be split into smaller groups and take turns for activities such as fire building and marshmallow toasting)

The school tour with a difference! Fun, action packed and educational! Learn about nature and the environment on a guided nature trail through different forest habitats to arrive at our cool base camp location for a shelter building challenge… Get into teams with your classmates and build your own forest shelter or ‘den’ using natural materials (sticks, leaves, moss etc..) see if your team can waterproof it and can it withstand the elements? 

Learn about flint and fire safety and help the Forest Club leader build the campfire from scratch using flint.

Chill out on the swings, hammocks and create your own mud pie or pine needle soup in the outdoor play kitchen between activities.

Enjoy lunch gathered around the campfire and at the end of the day enjoy toasting marshmallows (included)… what more could you want. 

  • We are a hugely popular outdoor adventure kids club, running camps forest school programs, after school clubs, birthday parties as well as school tours.

  • We are fully insured. Tours are suitable for children from senior infants upwards.

  • Forest Club leaders are trained and Garda vetted.

  • We have a large tarpaulin for shelter and provide alternative activities (nature arts/crafts, flint and steel fire skills) in the case of rain or showers.

  • We have an excellent safety record, activities are in the ‘low risk category’.

  • We are flexible with a start time that suits and fits in with your school day.

  • We are based on a beautiful private estate- Belmont Demesne located just 5-10 minutes away from Bray, Greystones, the N11 and within easy reach of south county Dublin.

While we provide 1-4 Forest Club leaders we would ask that an appropriate number of teachers / teacher assistants accompany the class to ensure that a minimum adult to child ratio of 1:8 is maintained (includes 1-4 Forest Club leaders) The Forest Club leader(s) will run the activities and school tour, the teachers / teacher assistants may help with supervision where appropriate.

Our base camp has seating around the campfire for up to 30 children, a waterproof tarpaulin which provides shelter if there is a shower, swings, hammock, play/mud kitchen for children to enjoy between activities.

When?

Anytime of the year! The forest is always changing and many schools book a tour in the spring / summer and one in the autumn to experience the changing of the seasons, we are flexible with a start / finish time to to suit your school. School tours are approximately 3 hours long.

What do children need for the tour ?

Old or outdoor type clothes, packed lunch and drink, wellies and raincoat (if there is rain or showers forecast) we need an insurance waiver / disclaimer which can be sent out tom parents of participants.

We ask for a waiver to be signed so that we can be compliant with the terms and conditions of our insurance policy and that all participants attending will be fully covered by our own insurance policy. The signing of waivers is standard practice across the board in many such businesses.
